Director of the Office of Religious Education for the Archdiocese of Mobile

Rebecca holds a B.A. in Biology, Trinity University, San Antonio, TX, and a Master of Pastoral Studies (M.P.S.) from Spring Hill College, Mobile, Alabama. Rebecca was commissioned as an ecclesial lay minister through the Toolen Institute for Parish Services by Archbishop Lipscomb in 1984. She served as Associate Director of the Office of Religious Education from 1995-2002, and has served as Director of the office from 2002 until present. As director of the office she is directly responsible to the Secretary of Catholic Education and the Archdiocesan Board of Catholic Education. She exerts leadership and provides continuous development of the ministry of religious education at the parish and diocesan level. In directing and coordinating the activities of the office, she works with the professional and support staff in the three deanery offices to develop catechetical leadership, animate adult faith formation initiatives, and provide guidelines for catechetical curriculum (Grs Pre-K-12) in Catholic schools and parishes in the archdiocese.

On the national level, Rebecca serves on the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership (NCCL) Representative Council for District V, and also on the organization’s Development Committee. She presently co-chairs NCCL’s Task Force: Operation Catechesis, which is serving to help dioceses and parishes along the hurricane-devastated Gulf Coast, revitalize their catechetical programs.
